Thursday morning tea we ate plain bread and water. We talked about how some children don’t get the yummy food we do. We have discussed that Caritas helps children around the world especially those in need.
We are now in our final few days of school for 2022. Thank you so much to you, our wonderful Kākano whānau for a great year. The teachers wish you all a safe and blessed holiday period. On Friday the children brought home their reports with their class teacher for next year. There was also a holiday reading log in this envelope. It is so important to continue reading over the holidays! There will be a prize draw early next year. Monday We will be having our end of year school mass at 9am. Thank you for being at school on time and in correct tidy school uniform for this. It is a special mass to recognise our Year 6’s and all of their service to St Mary’s over time. Wednesday Whole school prizegiving is at 9:30. All whānau are welcome to attend this. If your child is getting a prize you would have received a slip of paper alongside their report. Thursday This is our last day of school! We have a missioning in the morning to farewell the Year 6 students and school finish...
This week has gone so quickly with lots of excitement around the show. Today for the show tonight please have the children back between 5:30 and 6pm. Please pick them up from Kakano any time after 7:15pm and before 7:30pm. Tomorrow for golden time the children could not decide on a PJ party, teddy bears picnic or hot chips, so we have decided to do all 3. The children can bring a teddy and their pajamas in their school bag (we will get changed after morning tea). Can they also bring a gold coin to go towards the hot chips. They can also still order sausage sizzle and juicy or bring more lunch. Have a wonderful holidays and enjoy your family time. Lorraine Thomson

Also, please can you remind your child to bring their hat. St Mary’s has the rule - no hat, no play . So if they do not have a hat, they need to sit in the shade. Junior Kapa haka Well done to all our children who participated in the Kahui Ako Ahurei on Friday. Our Junior roopu stole the show and looked awesome in their new outfits. You sang so beautifully and we were all so proud of you. Thanks especially to Mrs Thomson for organising the group-she did a wonderful job. Swimming This week K5-8 are swimming all week. Please ensure your child has their togs and towel each day. The Week Ahead: K5-8 are swimming all week Monday - normal school day Tuesday - normal school day Wednesday - normal school day Thursday - normal school day Friday - sausage sizzle and juicies $1.50 each, roller ska...
